Over the past few years, there have been numerous reports of hair discrimination in the workplace and in schools, including children being sent home because of their hair or job offers rescinded when people have not been willing to change their hair.
This is why Dove co-founded the CROWN Coalition in 2019 to advocate for the CROWN Act - legislation that eliminates race-based hair discrimination in the workplace and in schools based on hair texture and protective styles such as braids, locs, twists, and bantu knots.
The CROWN Act (and bills inspired by The CROWN Act) has been signed in 23 states, 27 municipalities, and the US Virgin Islands.
Our goal is to pass the CROWN Act nationwide.
Time is of the essence!
